Carole Nash Martin, a lifelong resident of Lilburn, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017.
Born March 28, 1950, Carole was predeceased by her parents, William and Ellen Nash, and granddaughter, Jaelynn Carole Boone. Carole is survived by William Pete Martin, her husband of 34 years, 8 months, and 23 days. Other survivors include children and spouses, Janna Martin Boone and John of Snellville, Raymond Martin and Marcelle of Buford, Tim Martin and Sue of Jacksonville, Florida, Denny Martin and Juanita of Lawrenceville; siblings and spouses, Linda Nash Edwards and Doug of Lilburn, Elmer Nash and Judy also of Lilburn; grandchildren, Julius Connor and John William Boone, Victoria, Taylor and Hannah Martin; nieces and spouses, Lisa Edwards Angeles and Martin, Amy Nash Klein and Christian, Rebecca Nash Sullivan and Michael.
Carole graduated from Central Gwinnett High School and the University of Georgia where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She had a very successful 34 year career at the Internal Revenue Service, retiring on December 31, 2010. A member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lilburn for over 40 years, she served in many areas of leadership, including teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.
The Memorial Service will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 5255 Lawrenceville Highway, Lilburn, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 30, 2017, lying in state from 10:00 AM until service time. Rev. Cavin Cawthon and Rev. Jesse Childers, Jr. will officiate. Rev. Danny Odum and Mrs. Vicki Fontana will provide the music. Interment will be at the Luxomni Community Cemetery.
Carole fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, but during that time ministered unselfishly to others in their time of need. She leaves a legacy to be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the physicians and staffs of Gwinnett Medical Center, Emory University Hospital, Hospice Atlanta, and the friends and relatives who supported Carole during this time.
The visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, (770) 564-2726.
