Marie Rose (Sharnick) PiperMay 9, 1917 ~ March 23, 2017 (age 99)
Our most precious angel has recently been chosen by God to pursue new adventures in heaven.
Marie Rose Piper, better known as Grandma, was born in Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania on May 9th, 1917. She was the 2nd oldest daughter of 11 children of late Mary and Joseph Sharnick. She is survived by her brother, Steve Sharnick of Moline, IL.
At age 30 she married Ray Piper. Over the next few years, Marie and Ray Piper brought 4 children into this world – 2 daughters Marie & Patsy and 2 sons Raymond & Joe. They then blessed her with 6 grandchildren – Phillip & Lisa (Marie), Dawn (Patsy), Wendy, Cody, & Alexis (Raymond).
She lived a long spectacular life which enabled her to be blessed with several great grandchildren – Chandler & Ansley (Phillip), Madison (Alexis), Hubbard, Kupper, & Annie (Wendy).
Her family was one of the most important bonds in her life.
Throughout her many years, Grandma developed a special love with the game of baseball. She cheered on her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and of course the Atlanta Braves every chance she got.
When she wasn’t at the ball field, you could find her at a casino or one of her favorite restaurants. She fancied the life of Elvis and would always jump on the chance to see one of his impersonators. Grandma never stopped having fun and no one she ever met was considered a stranger.
When God put her on this Earth he knew that she would touch many hearts and hold many hands on her journey through life.
Her Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 27, 2017, at 2 pm in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Road, Atlanta, GA 30329 (404-636-1418) with Msgr. Albert Jowdy serving as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Atlanta, GA 30328.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 pm in the Bill Head Funeral Home and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. 770-564-2726.
