Ann was born August 10, 1943 to Sarah Evelyn Cook and Kenneth Seckinger Upchurch, in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, GA. in 1961. She was named Miss Druid Hills, which reflected her immense popularity and beauty. Ann began working as a legal secretary after high school, spending the majority of her working career at King & Spalding and retiring after 15 years of being a legal administrative assistant with the Federal Defender Program. Throughout her life, it was important to Ann to volunteer - from rocking newborns in Emory’s nursery to being involved as an officer of PaceCetters, and volunteering her time with the 1961 DHHS reunion committee. She loved dancing and held various offices in Atlanta Shag Club.
She was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. All of her family received extraordinary care from her and her love was evident in many ways. Family and friends would agree that she was filled with a grace and a light that few others have or give - and her giving never ended. We saw every day the love for friends and family in her face.
Ann suffered a significant loss just two months ago when her husband, John Jerald (Jerry) Blake passed away July 2, 2017. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bruce Duhamel of Atlanta; sons and daughters-in-law, John, Jr. and Roxanne Blake of Lilburn, GA and Brian and Ruth Blake of Braselton, GA; grandchildren, Morgan Blake, Victoria Blake, Cameron Blake and Spencer Blake. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Helen Morris and Christine Neal; brothers, Kenneth Morris and Wayne Morris; step-father, G I. Morris; step-sister, Linda Massey. She was also predeceased by her mother, Sarah Evelyn Cook Morris, and her father, Kenneth Seckinger Upchurch.
