Wilbur E. "Bill" BakerApril 15, 1926 ~ June 23, 2017 (age 91)
Wilbur E “Bill” Baker, son of Wilbur and Dorothy Baker, loving husband of Jean Sherwood Baker passed away on June 23 at his home in Suwanee, GA. He is survived by his wife Jean and five children; David Baker of Buford, GA, Sharon Robinson of Katy, TX, Ken Baker of Sherrills Ford, NC, Stephen Baker of Tucson, AZ and Jim Baker of Johns Creek GA. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Born in Montclair NJ, Bill graduated with an Industrial Management degree from Georgia Tech and was a veteran of World War II as a Naval Aviation Radiomen. Upon an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946, he began his professional career working for Westinghouse while living in Winston Salem, NC. In 1955 Bill transitioned to Lockheed to begin what would become a 33 year career, ultimately retiring as Director of Sales. Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching his beloved Atlanta teams – Braves, Falcons and Hawks as well as those Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Bill and Jean retired to Tega Cay, SC where they became active members of both their neighborhood and church communities. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A visitation will take place at Bill Head Funeral Home, in Duluth GA, on Monday June 26th from 5 – 7 PM. A celebration of life will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Duluth, GA on Tuesday, June 27th at 2 PM.
