Doyle Dean Matteson, age 84, of Lilburn, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.

There will be a private family service at a later date.

A native of Casey, IL, Mr. Matteson was a United States Air Force veteran, a member of Mt. Park Methodist Church and a former employee of Cofer Brothers, Inc.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Matteson of Lilburn; daughter, Joy Collins of Charleston, SC, son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Renee Matteson of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Michael and David Matteson, and sister, Marie Harris of Lake Mary, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation at, or to the Georgia Pick & Bow Traditional Music School, Inc. at

Joan, Sam and I are in St. Augustine, Fl for the month of January (we left home January 2nd) and in pulling up news on-line of home, we were saddened to read of Doyles passing.

Joanie, Joyce and Joe-
When Theresa told me of the news, the first picture that popped into my head was Doyle's beautiful, beautiful smile. He gave me and my family so many hilarious memories and brought each of us such joy. He was a beloved man and will be greatly missed. Peace to you all, Melissa
