Elaine Lanier (Lanier) PorterDecember 26, 1928 ~ January 6, 2018 (age 89)
Elaine Lanier Porter, 89, passed away January 3rd, 2018 at Gwinnett Christian Towers in Lilburn where she had lived for the past decade.
Born to Oscar E. Lanier and Florence Clyde Hobbs on December 26, 1928 in Waycross, Elaine grew up in Macon and later Rome. She was married to the late Everett E. Porter, Jr. for 17 years and had four children. Elaine was actively involved with her children’s activities in the community including the Cub Scouts and the PTA. In the late 1960’s, Elaine moved to Atlanta and established Elaine Porter Interiors and had a long lasting career as an interior designer. She loved her work and the people she met and worked with during her career.
Elaine is survived by her four children, Wayne Porter (Pam) of Gainesville, Elizabeth Royals (Jimmy) of Lilburn, Steve Porter (Debbie) of Rome and Everett “Flip” Porter III (Arlene) of Atlanta; two sisters, Miriam Hammond of Lafayette and Margie Morris of Douglasville; sister-in-law, Jean Porter of Flowery Branch; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as “MeMe”. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and their children who she loved and spoke of often.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel.
