Glenn D. Palmer

March 3, 2018
Obituary Image

Glenn D. Palmer of Stone Mountain was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday, March 3, 2018.  He showed resilience and courage as he fought a Grade 4 Glioblastoma and 3 different craniotomies within the past 12 months. He fought until the end to spend as much time with his Blondy, children, and grandchildren.

A native of Hayesville, NC, Glenn’s occupation for 40 years was an attorney and real estate broker, but his true passion on life was being a husband, father, grandfather, and most importantly, telling others about the eternal love of Jesus Christ. After serving in the Army in the Vietnam War, he refused to ever pass by a veteran at a grocery store, church, or Waffle House without saying ‘thank you’ or paying for their meal. His other interests that were underappreciated by those who loved him, include but are not limited to, certified auctioneer, Legendary TBall and Youth Basketball coach, gas tank filler, well done steaks, correcting the history channel, mute TV, waking his kids up in the morning with staticky AM radio, butt dialing his son in law, backup Sunday School teacher, and grocery store connoisseur.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Smith Palmer of Stone Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Jori Palmer of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jackson Wyss of Camas, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Niki Palmer of Atlanta; grandchildren, Samantha Palmer, Cameron Wyss, Nora Wyss and Francesca Palmer; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Pat Palmer of Birmingham, AL; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Mountain Park First Baptist Church in Stone Mountain with Dr. Paul Ballard officiating.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would consider making donations to Operation Homefront at www.operationhomefront.org/donate or your local church.

Glenn, we know you have your car backed in the driveway in your mansion in heaven.
