Joseph F. Garrett, age 61, of Stone Mountain, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Dr. Bill Blanchard officiating.
Joe Garrett was born as the youngest of five children in Miami, Florida. As a teenager, his family moved to Cordele, Georgia. He attended Crisp County High School where he played football and was the center of the social scene. This is where the nickname Five-0 began.
After high school, he served in the United States Air Force and was based out of Warner Robins, Georgia. He went on to attend Georgia State University where he graduated with a degree in business.
In 1983, he began his career as an insurance agent at C.A.Rauschenberg, Inc. He later became the owner of the agency.
He will always be remembered as a proud father and dog lover. May we never forget his contagious laugh, outgoing personality and love for his country.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Garrett of Stone Mountain, daughters and son-in-law, Lauren and Nick Marks of Lawrenceville and Kristen Garrett of Lawrenceville; step-daughter, Diana Herrington of West Palm Beach, FL; grandson, Cameron Marks.
