Robert "Shorty" Allen Kelley, age 91, of Tucker, GA, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019, at 11:00 am in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, GA, with Rev. Dewey Ellenburg officiating.
Born in Atlanta, Mr. Kelley was a automobile mechanic for several dealerships in the Atlanta area. He was a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after 27 years of service. In the 50s and 60s, he was a Nascar mechanic for several racing legends. Mr. Kelley was a Freemason and a 45 year member of the Tucker Lodge #42 F&AM.
Predeceased by his wife in 2009, Velma Louise Fowler Kelley and his son in 1993, Authur Kelley, he is survived by his sons, Michael Kelley of Brookhaven, Dennis Kelley of Stone Mountain and Steve and his wife, Lynn Kelley of Jefferson; grandchildren, Courtney Kelley and Claire Pouncey; brothers, Charles Kelley and James Kelley, both of Stone Mountain; sisters, Betty Lovin of Lilburn, Sara Corley of Conley, Barbara Ann Green of Tucker, Doris Ellenburg of Mableton, Gwendolyn Taylor of Griffin and Kathrine Allen of Woodbury; 41 nieces and nephews.
