Ruth Arlene Poss passed away on October 27th, 2019 in Suwanee, Georgia.
A celebratory mass will take place at the Catholic Church of St Monica in Duluth on October 30th at 11:00 a.m. with a reception afterwards at the church until 1:00. Burial will be attended by family at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
Ruth was born in Buffalo, NY in 1928 and moved to Lilburn, Georgia in 1971 with her husband Clyde Poss. Ruth was an active member and volunteer in the Catholic Church. She attended Corpus Christi in Stone Mountain, St. John Neumann in Lilburn and St. Monica in Duluth. Her faith was strong and her positive spirit was always contagious. She greeted everyone with a hug and a smile.
Ruth climbed Stone Mountain on a regular basis and last completed the feat when she was 80 years old. She volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul store in Lilburn and it was never more organized. Other activities included raising five crazy kids, Welcome Wagon, ushering at the Fox Theater, sewing club, and multiple prayer groups. Always happy to host gatherings, there was always a puzzle to complete or a board game or card game to be played.
Ruth was the daughter of the late Florence and William Beck. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Edward Poss, her son Jeffery and her daughter, Ellen Blamowski (Randy) of Orchard Park, NY.
She is survived by her children Christine Weberlist (Neil) of Toms River, NJ, Michael Poss (Lawana) of Suwanee, GA, Timothy Poss (Debbie) of Jackson, GA and David Poss (Eileen) of Atlanta, GA; 11 grandchildren, Bridget, Craig, Michael, Eric, Jason, Sarah, Michael Jr., Katie, James, William and Daniel; 13 great grandchildren.
