On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, Steven “Teba” Quigley passed away at the age of 65 due to complications from cancer. He is survived by his wife, four siblings, two daughters and grandchildren.
Steve was born in Joliet, IL, and attended Lockport Township High School where he was on the debate club, part of the National Honor Society, and earned the student superlative “Most Non-Conformist.” LTHS is also where he met Michele (Davenport) Quigley, his wife of 46 years.
Steve lived in Norcross, GA, for over 40 years where he worked in the construction industry. He excelled at both residential and commercial work during his career. Working was his hobby, and he had a talent for repairs. The most obscure piece of equipment or elusive problem was no match for Steve’s tenacity and ingenuity. He took pride in both practical and unconventional solutions and was committed to sharing his ‘how-to’ knowledge with others, while keeping a few trade secrets to himself.
Steve’s job titles included carpenter, mason, electrician, general contractor, equipment technician and facilities engineer. Of all his titles, his favorite was “Grandpa”. He adored his grandkids beyond measure. He will be remembered for many things, but ideally summarized by a prized Father’s Day gift – a hat received from his grandchildren that read ‘Grandpa: The Man, The Myth, The Legend.’
There will be a memorial mass in Steve’s honor at St. Stephen The Martyr https://www.ststephenthemartyr.info/ on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 11:00am. The family will host guests for a celebration of Steve’s life following the mass.
